Dominion Digital DJs: A Look Back at the Music Video Experience
2026-11-01 · Hyper Local Hero Media LLC
Long before every phone could play a video, Dominion Digital DJs was mixing music videos live at parties across New York City and Long Island.
Two selectors
Raul [VJ Raw] Williams could take a room on a nostalgic trip through the soundtrack of their lives. Ryan [Mr. Steele] Williams could take the same room from groove to jam to frenzy in half an hour. Between them they had been rocking parties since 1995.
The Music Video Experience
The Dominion MVX was the big idea: you didn't just hear the next song, you saw it, mixed live with clips, custom slideshows and shots of the guests themselves. The research the team shared at the time found that video with audio makes an event far more memorable, and the dance floors agreed.
Giving back
In 2011 the crew taught a free How to Become a Digital DJ 101 class at the North Babylon Public Library, covering beatmatching, scratching and how to book your first gigs.
Dominion Digital no longer takes bookings. This archive is here for fun, and for everyone who danced. Explore the MixLAB and the blog archive.
